Farming During a Pandemic

(Article republished with permission from Oshala Email Newletter)

Just like the rest of you we are feeling the collective stress and fear of these unparalleled times. We wanted to take a moment to update all of you on what Oshala Farm is doing to keep our customers, crew and family safe.

As a farm we are one of the essential businesses allowed to continue operations. This is a blessing which comes at a crucial time of the year when we start nearly one million seeds to ensure an abundant harvest. Additionally, we are busier than ever shipping vibrant herbs from our farm in Southern Oregon to all of you. We are proud and incredibly thankful to be able to share plant medicine during these challenging times.

We have implemented many changes on the farm to protect the health of our customers,  ourselves and employees as we move forward in the reality of this pandemic. Upgrades have been made to all of our farm systems and processes to maintain physical distancing. We have augmented our already stringent cleaning and sterilizing processes by cleaning and sanitizing everything on our farm twice per day. We have upgraded our paid sick leave program so that employees can take time off without losing pay if they feel any symptoms at all. Now more than ever we know how important it is for us to carry on so we can support our team, customers and tribe as we move through these uncertain times.

Thank you for your love and trust in the plants and in our farm. We appreciate all the notes of encouragement and thanks over the last weeks: it has definitely lifted our spirits during a stressful time. We are so thankful for our committed team and all the hours of hard work and care they have put in to make sure all of you are getting your herbs as quickly as possible. Know that with every box of herbal goodness we send out, we are also sending thoughts of you and your loved ones staying healthy and strong during this challenging time.
