New Moon Message
From the Elders #016:

Offering from Mama Shabeta

 “Feed the Soul”

Welcome Dearest Readers to Our
Message From the Elders during this sacred New Moon time.

***
During this holy time, we hear a message to feed our soul from dear Bernadette Torres (who we also know as Mama Shabeta). Her message is simple: we need to feed our soul, breathe and remember we are warriors of the corazon. We need to clear out the heaviness and connect with nature, so that we may continue to do our healing work in the world. Gracias and thank you for this reminder during these challenging times, and also thank you for this practical
advice for how we can walk with the sacred in our everyday lives.

Thank you Mama Shabeta.Thank you wisdom keepers, thank you dear Elders, Grandmothers and Grandfathers. Gratitude for you!

Thank you also to Molly and the CoCreavatars Editing Team! For your support, inspiration, and for making this work possible.

Write me with any comments, ideas or suggestions for Elders we should feature at mikulenentine@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you dear ones.

Feed the Soul:

The message I have been carrying and fine-tuning for the last 20 years is to stay simple. Keep connected to the earth as much as you can. For us that means the garden. Being in the garden and creating with the earth. Staying simple means using the earth as our tool, as our slate and being connected to your breath. Those two elements are the key. Remembering to breathe deeply and always to slow down and keep things simple. There is nowhere we need to be. There is nothing we need to do. If we can stay in this state. We are going to see the vision, hear the voice, hear the dream. And we can move forward. That’s really the message. Keep it simple.

Many of us are carrying old congested energy. Old memories, traumas, dramas that just sit in our bodies and block us. They are just so heavy. They are keeping us in those old patterns. What I see that is very useful is doing a clearing. There are a lot of people in a lot of areas where you can go do Limpias, or cleanses, with your elders, here in Albuquerque, and even distance healers like Ashéninka Mino. He does a distance practice and clears the energy from the body. Any blockages any of those old traumas that are created in our own physical body, in our own spirit. Those clearings will move that out so you can be more open and receptive.

Remembering to breathe deeply and always to slow down and keep things simple. There is nowhere we need to be. There is nothing we need to do. If we can stay in this state. We are going to see the vision, hear the voice, hear the dream.
And we can move forward. That’s really the message. Keep it simple.

I also do meditation on a regular basis and I highly recommend that. Before you jump out of bed in the morning time, I highly encourage you to take a moment to pause. Breathe. Remember your connection to Creator. Whatever name you give to the universal source, to that Universal Light. Make that connection in the morning and before you go to bed.

I also do breathe work. I work with a young man named Grace. He does sound baths, meditation, and holotropic breathwork. During Covid that has been my practice. Doing the clearing with Mino and then doing the breathwork. That is what keeps me grounded, and keeps me able to draw in messages and dreamwork so I can stay on this path without being pushed off.

Sometimes this energy is scary. We are tapping into HUGE mountains of everybody’s fear. People who are fearful are creating more fear. They are telling us conspiracy theories and making us fearful to walk on this earth. Even if we don’t think we are afraid, because many of us grew up in a world where we don’t feel fear, we push it away…well, it’s still there. If you tap into the collective unconscious you are going to tap into a MOUNTAIN of fear.

So it is really important that we are consciously reminding ourselves that it is collective. It is real. We have to work with it. We have to face it. We have to acknowledge it. We have to breathe through it. We were made for this time. We are warriors. We were made to do this. We have suffered the traumas that we carry in our bodies. They are the signs, the scars of what we are capable of doing. We don’t need to let it bring us down. These times are for raising us up. For spiraling inward. For raising up. I know who I was told to be. I know the personality of the name that was given to me, but deep down inside at the core and in my gut who am I? That’s a big question. If you feel fear facing this individually there are places we can gather. In our New Moon and Full Moon groups.

“Sometimes this energy is scary.
If you tap into the collective unconscious you are going to tap into a MOUNTAIN of fear.”

We have to remember that what we feed ourselves will energize us or deplete us. The food that we eat is really important yet also it is what we are taking into our minds that matters as well. Our emotions. So if we are watching the news, or going on social media. It is feeding us fear. That is why I mentioned the breathwork because it helps us to deal with what we are processing. And we really need to practice and get in the habit of practicing. Sometimes we get into the practice of ‘what is everyone else doing?’ So we go on social media. But there is a lot of negativity blended in there.

So the practice is to work. And keep working, doing the WORK. Keep walking on the earth. Keep playing with the seeds, keep preparing the soil.

Right now for a lot of us it is a time where we don’t see things growing yet so we need to prepare the soil, prepare the land so that it is ready to receive the seeds come spring and allow this vibrance to return to us. It is a practice. And we have to every day get up in the morning and ask ourselves, ‘what am I going to feed myself?’

Am I going to allow myself be fed fear, and resistance and hatred? There is a lot of hatred out there. Teaching people, to look at somebody and say I don’t like you because you don’t look like me. That is hatred. That is the path of hate. We have to ask ourselves are we going to continue this? I am going to follow the path of hate? Or am I going to follow the path of love?

We have to choose between the path of love and the path of hate. We all have the same senses, we are the one people, the earth people here to walk hand in hand. We have been taught prejudices to survive.  We need to stop the judgement. We need to walk with our, corazon, our hearts open.

We need to stop the judgement.

“So the practice is to work.
And keep working, doing the WORK.
Keep walking on the earth.
Keep playing with the seeds,
keep preparing the soil.

Right now for a lot of us it is a time where we don’t see things growing yet so we need to prepare the soil, prepare the land so that it is ready to receive the seeds come spring and allow this vibrance to return to us. It is a practice. And we have to every day get up in the morning and ask ourselves, ‘what am I going to feed myself?”

Even when others are on the hate and fear path we need to remember we are all one. We are all creating on a deep level the micro-aggressions within ourselves that others respond to. When we wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and engage in negative self-talk, saying “Oh I am so ugly” or whatever it is, those negative things we say to ourselves. Or yelling at someone while we are driving, those little micro-aggressions are coming back to us.

We don’t have to participate in this but we do have to address them. We do need to respond to them and the response is to say NO – you are not welcome in my space. Sometimes this can be even bigger. They might be family members. This can also be in our inner circle, family members or best friends we have known for years. They might be losing it, and we are afraid to let them go, but we sometimes need to close the door and say ‘this is not allowed in the space’ if the person is going to participate in this energy. We need to tell them no.

If we are aggressive ourselves, when we lose it, we need to look at that behavior. Look at ourselves. Maybe we need to take a little nap, or eat something nourishing and forgive ourselves. What is really important to give everyone we know permission, that if there is a family member who is practicing hatred, practicing fear, you can say you are not welcome here. They have the opportunity to change or that’s their path. We don’t want that ugliness to infect us. We have to take care of ourselves. In order to take care of the bigger community. We need to feed ourselves strength and kindness so we can pass that out to everybody else.

One of my greatest medicines and sources of strength are plants. Plants are my maestros. It’s hard to explain how plants communicate. People expect to hear a voice. They want to hear a Grandma or a Grandpa coming through the plant. It is not always like that. Sometimes they come in a dream or a vision, or you see the plant in a store and you are attracted to it. This attraction is that plant calling you in because it has something that it wants to feed your soul.

In my garden when I work with the plants I talk to them. At first I was hesitant and now people walk by and wonder who is she talking to, and it is my plants. I love them. The more I speak to them, the more they are willing to open up and share their brilliance with me, and their brilliance comes through the vibrancy of the plant itself.

We have an indoor vegetable garden and we have lettuce growing in there. Every day I walk by and before I walk out the door, it grabs my attention I grab a leaf and it like taking vitamins! I feel nourished by a leaf. A lettuce leaf!

I feel hydrated. Living in this way I feel like I am living in bliss. I have a connection to this land. I have a connection to the soil, and hearing what it needs, and hearing its voice and knowing what I need to put into it to feed it. Nourishing the soil isn’t something that is going to happen overnight. It takes time to feed the soil, just like us! How it takes time to continuously heal ourselves, and heal our gut flora. A lot of us are looking for a miracle cure, like “touch me on my head” and it’s cured. Or they are seeking for an addiction to disappear. No, what they really need, what we all need is to learn to love.

“We have been taught to hate so now is the time where we get to learn to love.
The biggest thing on our plate needs to be love, this corazon. Put it on your plate in the morning time and say, this is what we are doing. We are learning to love ourselves this microplanet, this microorganism, this cellular being – all of the things in our DNA, from our Mother’s side, from our father’s side..from our Mother’s womb. We are learning to reawaken the love that is inside of us because it was always there. We came in with that.”

We are born special. Especially if you were born a women and especially if you were born a women of color you have been told you are not worthy. We ourselves have to grab that staff of power, and we have to say I deserve this, and I am going to learn how to use it in a good way. Not the way our colonized minds taught us to use power.

And finally, I probably won’t feel complete until I can walk down the street and see a garden in everybody’s yard. Or I can walk into everybody’s house and I can see our home surrounded by our green Beings. Who are giving us oxygen and helping to detoxify our space. That is when I will feel complete.

While this isn’t proven by science yet… someday it will be. On a spiritual level I trust we will grow as we embrace the heart center. People will someday remember what Mama Shabeta said! That is when I will be complete.

About Abuela Bernadette Torres (Mama Shabeta)Bernadette Torres is a grandmother, herbalist, teacher, health facilitator, and the director of Shabeta’s Healing Garden. She began her journey with medicinal plants and healing as a child in the mountains of Taos New Mexico where her father introduced her to her first healing plants. She has worked in health food stores since 2004 learning the valuable connection between health and food recognizing the nutritional value in many plants. She became passionate about learning all she could from many amazing herbalist curanderos and healers from all over the world.

Every summer she leads private and public medicinal plant ID hikes for the integrative medical students at UNM and others. In 2009 she began teaching at New Mexico school of natural therapeutics which is the only nationally recognized massage school that offers an herbal program.

Since 2006 her journey brought her to study the Ashéninka healing techniques from the central jungle of Peru with her partner Ashéninka Mino. Together they run an outdoor garden school where they demonstrate the plant life from seed to fruit. At this point in her life she is primed to share this wealth of knowledge as a teacher and herbal consultant offering unique apprenticeship programs geared to help students gain confidence by developing their own intuitive sense in the use of medicinal plants.

Forgiveness Prayer

Today, I call on the powers of forgiveness,
the hope that heals & wipes away resentment,
I am ready to forgive & heal old wounds.
I forgive you for the past, making way for
friendship & I forgive all who have hurt me
in the past, deliberately or by accident. I am ready
to forgive myself for errors I’ve made & things I have
done in the past that I regret. Healing replaces
resentment, peace replaces anger as forgiveness grows
inside me and my heart lightens. Filling me with a sense of
wellbeing & acceptance, I embrace forgiveness,
the great healer of hearts.

How to Support Mama Shabeta?
One of the best ways you can support Mama Shabeta is to learn with her in person and walk with her in the garden. However, due to Covid restrictions, that is not currently possible so the next best thing would be to set up a distanced Spiritual Consultation or a healing with Ashéninka Mino. Visit http://shabeta.com/ for more information.

You can also donate directly to Mama Shabeta to support her in her healing work.

Mama Shabeta’s Garden & Healing with Ashéninka Mino

Spiritual Health ConsultationsI have been studying dreams, symbology, numerology, plants, and the language of the body for over 30 years. I use these tools  to access, to assist, and guide myself and others to understanding the Health of the Mind, Emotion, Body and Soul. I am not a fortune teller or a psychic. I am an Intuitive. My intention is to be connected to Mother/Father Godus and use this knowing to help others remember their own connection.  When I do a reading/consultation, I practice acknowledging Holy Spirit and giving gratitude. Practice is what strengthens the receptivity. So I practice now and I give thanks to every being that honors me with their time and confidence. Expect the unexpected!!Cost is $90/session

Ashéninka Traditional Indigenous Healing TreatmentsSheripiari Mino does not watch the clock. He feels the energy of each person and has a sense when the person has released what they can for the session. Sessions last approximately 1 & 1/2 hours but can last up to 2 hours. We do a short Platica (conversation about the requested healing) and then a short guided healing meditation to help the person relax and be more receptive to the healing and spiritual blessings.    Mino was trained since childhood by his grandpa Kentzicuari to do long-distance healing. (Sheripiari in Mino’s indigenous language means Man who works with the Sacred Tobacco.) In Ashéninka Mino’s culture there is no plant that is greater in connecting one to Pawa (Creator).

Remote/Long distant healing
Mino is available for long-distance healing and during pandemic, we are offering long-distance healing ONLY.  How it is possible to do this work? The energy body is not something that is spoken of in everyday, ordinary moments. It is unique to many of us.  I myself did not understand this technique when I first met Mino in 2006, but after translating for him for the last 14 years, I have grown to see how accurate he is with his findings of the imbalances that people request help for. I am fascinated by how pure this work is. Most of the people who call us for long-distance are people we have never met or seen their faces. Because we don’t have the distraction of knowing the physical body, the personality and ego are minimized so we are able to work with pure energy. We will confirm and hold your space when we receive your offering.Offering=$120USD cash or
PayPal (please send as a gift as not to incur fees)
